Spartans in the hunt for PA linebacker

One of the recruits that is seeing his stock rise significantly this spring is linebacker Ejuan Price of Woodland Hills High School in Pennsylvania. The 6-foot-0, 235-pound prospect has picked up some impressive offers, including one from Michigan State University. SpartanMag.com caught up with him and has the latest on his recruitment.

Rivals.com broke news last week that Mark Dantonio and Michigan State extended Price a scholarship. Spartanmag.com asked Price about the schools that have offered and if he currently has any favorites.

"I don't have a top choice at the moment, but I have offers from the University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Iowa, Syracuse, Michigan State, Buffalo and Ohio State," Price stated.

The two most recent offers from Michigan State and Ohio State are especially noteworthy considering the caliber of linebacker the teams have brought in the last few years. The Spartans already have a commitment from Lawrence Thomas and have the luxury of being very selective with who will join him in this class.

Price has already taken some visits to the schools that have offered him. He recently went down to West Virginia and has been to Pitt on several occasions due to the close proximity to home. He also was in Columbus for Ohio State's spring game. We asked him about his plans to check out other schools like Michigan State and Iowa.

"I have not been there yet, but I plan on visiting them this summer, probably in early June. I am looking forward to seeing the schools and talking with the coaches."

At 6-foot-, 235-pounds Price has excellent size for the position. The rivals database lists him as an inside linebacker. We asked him if teams are recruiting him for any particular linebacker position.

"Right now as far as I know none of the teams that are recruiting me are limiting to just one of the three positions," he said. "They all say they like my athleticism and think I am versatile enough to be considered at SAM, MIKE or WILL linebacker."

As far as when he will make a decision, Price indicated that he is not in a hurry, but he also does not plan on dragging things out until signing day either. He also provided spartanmag.com into what he will be looking for when he sits down to make his choice.

"Distance will not be a big factor for me," he stated. "I am just looking for a place that is going to help make me the best possible player. I would like to go somewhere I can get on the field and be comfortable with the coaches and players. I also want to make sure I get a good education for the 4 year or so I am there."

Price informed spartsnmag.com that his contacts with Michigan State has been with both Coach Tressel and Coach Mark Staten. Coach Staten is serving as his primary recruiter while Coach Tressel would be his position coach.

Spartanmag.com will be sure to follow-up with Price in the coming weeks. Once he does get out to East Lansing to check out Michigan State, we will be sure to report on his thoughts about the Spartan program.
