Pokes Offer Iowa JUCO Linemen
The University of Wyoming hopes to sign at least one JUCO linemen in 2011 and Dave Christensen's staff has extended one to an Iowa JUCO product in Dan Heiar.
Heiar is a 6-foot-5 and 285 pound offensive tackle with good feet and mobility, while starring at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The linemen has received two official offers to-date from the Cowboys and Florida International, and is receiving good interest from Iowa, Iowa State, and Kansas State.
Christensen signed one JUCO offensive linemen in 2009 in Nick Puetz, but the he left the Cowboy program after this year's spring drills, in turn, opening up a scholarship at the position.
Heiar appears on track to graduate in December 2010 allowing him to enroll at the school he chooses in January of 2011. He then would able to participate in spring drills.
He played high school football at Northeast Goose Lake in Charlotte, Iowa playing both offensive line and D-Line. He received interest from Northern Iowa and South Dakota State out of high school because of his hard nosed play.
Iowa Western CC under head coach Coach Scott Strohmeier recruited Heiar in his inaugural season and he's been a leader from day one.
"Our goal was to get the state's best athletes to join us in making our first season a success," he said. "There has been no disappointment in his play."
