Michigan OL picks up BCS offers

Last week SpartanMag.com caught up with Jalen Schlachter of Corunna High School and got the latest on his recruitment by Michigan State. This week we spoke with the 6-foot-6, 285-pound prospect and he informed us that he has picked up two BCS offers in the last week.

"I just wanted to update you on my recruitment," Schlachter stated. "I was offered a scholarship by Missouri last Friday and Indian offered me last night."

Schlachter traveled back to Michigan State this past weekend to watch the Green and White game. Spartanmag.com asked him about his time in East Lansing.

"It went well. I was able to speak with Coach Roushar both before and after the game, Schlachter said. He told me to be patient with them and to keep working hard. He said he said that he really liked my new highlight tape that I sent him and that it looked really good."

The most recent offers to Schlachter not solidify him as one of the top OL prospects in Michigan for the class of 2011, but also make him feel that his hard work is paying off.

"It feels good to get the offers," he said. "It seemed as if things were kind of quiet for a while. I am going to Indiana on June 12th and Coach Ricumstrict is going to give me a tour of the school. He said he is looking forward to my visit. Indiana really likes my size and my highlight video. I am still waiting for that Michigan State offers and that will be a great day."

Have any schools stopped into you schools the last few days and will you be at the NIKE Camp this weekend?

"Missouri, Indiana and Central Michigan have all been by. I am not going to the NIKE camp, but I will be at the Rivals Elite Camp on Sunday (Midwest Elite).

As SpartanMag.com indicated in our previous update on Schlachter, he does plan on being at the Michigan State Camp that will be held in June. The last few years the Spartans have had a regular camp as well as an OL/DL Camp. Schlachter will definitely be at one of them so he can work personally with Coach Roushar. A strong performance at the camp could lead to him receiving a Michigan State scholarship offer.

Spartanmag.com will be covering the Rivals Midwest Elite Campo this weekend. We will be scouting Schlachter and will be sure to report on how he does against many of the top defensive lineman in the Midwest. Schlachter is fully healed from his ankle injury and is looking forward to the competition.
