Baylor lands big wide receiver commitment

It was no secret that Allen, Texas wide receiver Jonathan Lee was very interested in both Iowa and Baylor and had recently taken in both programs for unofficial visits to watch spring practice.

What wasn't clear is when Lee would make a college decision or who he would ultimately decide on. Lee put that question to rest on Tuesday night with a commitment to Baylor.

"I committed [to Baylor] around 9:45 tonight," Lee said on Tuesday evening. "I really like the coaching staff and what they had to bring to the table. Just reviewing over all the schools that I visited, they were the only school that was family oriented. They asked about my family and I really liked that. Also knowing people that go to Baylor from their experiences there."

His final decision did in fact come down to either Iowa or Baylor and though it was a tough call, Lee's conversations with the Baylor coaching staff won him over.

"I guess just talking to Coach Briles, Coach Babers, and Coach Hoefer about what Baylor has to bring and what I have to bring to Baylor was the difference," he said. "I can be a major factor in their program."

Recently, Lee was able to take an unofficial visit to Waco and he was blown away by the community atmosphere around the program.

"I liked the community coming out and watching the spring game," he said. "I liked how they walked us through everything and they really encouraged that they wanted to see my mom up there and everything. And the education is good."

Lee described the decision as being a high-pressure situation but to be certain, it was a relief not only to him but to the Baylor coaches to get that decision out of the way.

"They were happy," he said of the Baylor coaching staff's reaction. "They wanted to be here to give me a hug."

As a junior, Lee caught 53 passes for over 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. Lee is a member of the Rivals250 to watch list as a big receiver with great hands and great ability vertically.

Asked if he would still look at other options and take more visits despite his commitment, Lee's response was simple.

"I think I'm done."
