Rawls: 'CMU has the upper hand for me'

One of numerous visitors to the Chippewas spring game over the weekend was Flint Northern (MI) running back Thomas Rawls. CMU offered Rawls last month and has since tabbed the 5-foot-10 and 215 pound back as a major priority. The visit to Mount Pleasant was the third for Rawls, and this time he had a chance to bring some other people who are very involved in his recruitment along.

"Yeah, this was my third visit to CMU, I went there for Junior Day and for a high school field trip. It was a little colder this time though," laughed Rawls. "Really, the spring game as a lot like my Junior Day visit. They had us all gather in the team meeting room and the coaches all talked to us and stuff."

"Coach Enos and the staff finally had a chance to meet my parents and everything too. This was the first time they came with me and they really liked the coaching staff. It was good for them to experience it first hand and not just hear it from me. But, we had a chance to visit the weight room and take a bus tour of campus also" added Rawls.

CMU is Rawls lone offer at the moment, but he has been hearing steadily from schools such as Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Cincinnati, and Michigan State.

"Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin are the schools I'm hearing from the most," said Rawls. "Wisconsin and Iowa, they both are on a good stance with me."

Despite some Big Ten schools starting to show more interest and the possibility of more offers to come in, Rawls admits the Chippewas sit very high with him.

"I've been there three times, and I really do love the campus," Rawls said. "Central Michigan…they definitely have the upper hand with me."

With the Chippewas as his top school, has Rawls had any thoughts about pulling the trigger soon?

"They're coming with it," added Rawls. At first, I didn't know if I'd like CMU that much, but man, whenever I go up there now it's like I get some burning feeling in my heart and I start thinking that Central Michigan could really be the place for me. It's crazy, but I really like Central Michigan and like I said, they definitely have the upper hand with me right now."

With Dan Enos and his Chippewas coaching staff working hard to secure a verbal commitment from Rawls, the Flint running back could be come CMU's next commit.
