Tall Tulsa commit hearing from MSU

El Maton, Texas tight end Colt Clontz took a visit to Tulsa a few weeks ago and picked up his first offer.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pounder thought things over for a few days and contacted the Golden Hurricane staff to give his commitment.

"When we went over there, everything was real nice," Clontz said. "All the coaches are real cool. My dad asked them how far down the list I was on their list of tight ends and they said I was number one. We figured if that was the case then Tulsa would be the best place that I could play at."

Clontz has received interest from the likes of Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Memphis, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

He also took spring visits to Baylor and Houston but there was just something different about his trip to Tulsa.

"I went to Houston and Baylor and they all liked me and it sounded pretty good," Clontz said. "But when I went over to Tulsa, they made me feel like I was a part of the team. Tulsa's just the most comfortable place."

One school from the Southeastern Conference that has shown interest in Clontz is Mississippi State. The Bulldogs have not signed a tight end since the 2008 class and are on the market in 2011.
