Martin receives offer from Mississippi State

When Greenville, S.C. safety Pat Martin picked up the phone this afternoon to call Mississippi State he had no idea he would hang up with a scholarship offer.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pounder got the good news from the Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen.

"Coach (Scott) Sallach and I have been talking on Facebook for the last couple of days," Martin said. "I sent him a link to my highlights today and told him I'd call him. When I called him, we talked and then he put Coach Mullen on the phone. Coach Mullen was telling me that he liked my highlight tape a lot and liked the way that I hit. He said that I would be a good fit for their defense because they like to blitz a lot running a lot of zone coverages and mixing it up. He said I'd be getting a full scholarship soon in the mail."

Martin admitted that he didn't know much about MSU other than the basics but planned to do more research on the school and program now that they have joined his list of offers.

"I know they are in the SEC and I know that Coach Mullen is a good coach," Martin said. "I'm going to learn more about them since they just started recruiting me. I just know that they have a great coach and they are up and coming."

Martin plans to visit Starkville this summer as well as another SEC West school that has offered.
