Bruins have eye for sackmaster

Players like defensive end Jason Gibson (6-3, 215, 4.6) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra wreak havoc on opposing offenses and because of the heat they put on a quarterback, make the entire defense a better squad.

Gibson earned first-team all-CIF, all-area and all-league after accounting for 97 tackles, 16 sacks, three pass deflections, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble as a junior. Not a bad day at the office.

About half way through the season the opposition started to double team Gibson, yet he still made his presence known. He's an outstanding football player who is nearly impossible to stop on the high school level. Look for him to garner just as much attention from the opposition this season in terms of double teams as he did in the latter part of his junior season.

On the recruiting trail, Gibson has offers from every team in the Pac 10 except USC. He also has offers from Florida and Tennessee while Colorado's offer came in on Tuesday (March 23rd). The word is Notre Dame's offer is on the way.
