Dream come true for DB
Brockton, Mass. defensive back Albert Louis-Jean always dreamed of playing for one program growing up. So when the Miami Hurricanes became his second offer, he knew then and there he would become a part of a great tradition. After seeing Miami's campus for the first time on Wednesday, Louis-Jean decided to pull the trigger and commit.
"Back in 2000 I remember having NCAA Football on Play Station and I would always pick Miami and create myself in the game," said the 6-foot-1, 172-pounder. "Then my dad got me a Miami jersey and from that point, when I was around 7 or 8 years old, I always dreamed of playing for Miami. Now I can make that dream come true."
Louis-Jean, who chose the Hurricanes over offers from Boston College, Penn State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, UConn and others, committed to Randy Shannon and the rest of his staff in person.
"Being down here at practice and seeing everything, it is great," he said. "Coach Shannon, coach McGriff and everyone else, they were very excited."
Louis-Jean visited Miami last season when they hosted Clemson and loved the atmosphere.
"It was really cool being around the team and the game but at that point I didn't have an offer," he said. "I got my offer around Christmas so it was like a present. I wanted to make sure and see a few other places before making my decision, but I kind of knew then. I grew up when Miami was the power team in college football and I want to help get them back there. I was a big fan or guys like Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, Sean Taylor, Andre Johnson and guys like that. Now I can wear that uniform."
An early decision came because the process began to heat up for Louis-Jean who was getting new offers each week.
"It was getting kind of hectic so my dad and I talked about it and decided it was time," he said. "I wanted to do it in person and see the campus first, but it's everything I expected it to be. It just feels right."
Louis-Jean will play cornerback at Miami but he can also play safety or wide receiver in college.
