Hokies eye Rivals250 to watch ATH

Virginia Tech is taking an interest in a Rivals250 to watch prospect for 2011. The versatile 6-foot-0, 205-pounder already holds three scholarship offers. While the Hokies haven't pulled the trigger, they are taking a closer look.

"I have been receiving more mail and I know in a couple weeks it's going to pick up even more," Rochester (N.Y.) Bishop Kearney 2011 athlete Quentin Gause said. "I still have the same three offers from Syracuse, Rutgers and Akron."

Who else is taking an interest in Gause?

"A lot of other schools are in contact including Miami, Oregon, North Carolina, Buffalo, LSU, Northwestern, Southern Cal, Michigan and Arkansas."

The Hokies have ties to Bishop Kearney with a commitment from 2010 tight end Jerome Lewis. Tech is looking back at the school and starting to eye Gause more recently.

"They have been sending mail and I plan to take a visit there around April sometime," he said. "I am interested in Virginia Tech. I can't wait to take a visit and check out their communications program and see how the environment is."

Is Jerome Lewis talking Tech up?

"Jerome keeps telling me about it," he said. "I know he can't wait to head down there and I'm proud of him."

Virginia Tech isn't the only team expected to receive a visit in the near future.

"I plan to visit Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Oregon, Miami and a few others in the coming months, but nothing is set quite yet."

Does Gause like anybody?

"I have a top list that I'm not really mentioning yet, but nothing is set in stone."

Gause posted 1,000-yards of offense and 114 tackles as a junior this past season.
