Sarao reflects on Georgia

Last weekend New Jersey linebacker Anthony Sarao visited a southern school for the first time, making the long trip to Georgia to attend a junior day in Athens.

The 5-foot-11, 201-pound prospect from Absecon (N.J.) Holy Spirit recently picked up offers from Nebraska and Temple. Those schools joined Boston College, Maryland, Rutgers and Stanford as schools that have put scholarships on the weekend.

In Athens, however, Sarao was focused on impressing coach Mark Richt's staff. The trip went well, apparently, and the Bulldogs were impressed with what Sarao was able to do. It might be a little while before he learns whether they will become the seventh school to offer.

"It was great, actually," Sarao said. "I was the only guy from New Jersey. Everybody else was from Florida, Georgia or South Carolina. That made it a whole lot better.

"They loved me. They're going to run a whole new defense so they have to evaluate their own players before they know what exactly they're going to need. Georgia is definitely high on my list, because they have good academics, too."

Sarao went on to say the only other visit he has planned is to Maryland. He will be in College Park this coming Saturday.

In all, Sarao has now attended junior days at Georgia, UConn and Rutgers. He has also visited Boston College, Penn State and Ohio State.

"I'm really kind of done with combines," he said. "I'm waiting 'til the summer, and then I'll go to a couple of camps and get out as much as I can.

"I want to verbally commit before my season if I can, just to get it out of the way. I would at least like to have it narrowed to five schools or three schools ... something like that."
