Of course I would be remiss to at least inform you to prepare for the worst wink.

I'll take that into consideration. I might should tell you that you're talking to a guy who walked into 'The Swamp' (the bar across the street from the ishole stadium the gates play) and walked up to the bartender and asked him if the Teddy Dupay poster they had up on the wall was won in a bet roll.

Either way that place sounds cool. I'll definitely check it out when I finally get a chance to visit Wrigley again frown.

Ok before I get too intoxicated (yes I'm on the sauce again) (and I remembered the quote from the movie 'Author' tonight that made me LOL "A real woman could stop you from drinking" - "It'd have to be a real big woman" laugh) and want to discuss the Hornung quote/theory.

First off I think he's correct but his playing of the race card made his opinion completely ignored.

My example for his theory is the one and only Tim Tebow. Without knowing I'd be willing to bet that Tebow's 890 SAT wouldn't get him into ND. From what anyone can see Tebow could easily handle college coursework (he won the academic Heisman - don't laugh like I did). Also from what anyone can tell he is a great kid. Now I'm not saying that ND has to take a bunch of questionable character athletes but IMO, there needs to be some leeway.

Some kids don't have any trouble with academics but don't make it a priority. They can handle college coursework but their life's goals are focused on the NFL. The HS game has changed and like it or not, most kids have no clue who or what ND stands for. If a kid has a remote interest in attending ND, yet doesn't have the grades, that kid has no problem saying 'Fine I'm NCAA eligible, am an EE, and I'll go to tOSU instead of staying in HS and raising my SAT or GPA'.

This is JMHO, but ND is going to eventually have to decide whether they want to become Havard/Yale or Michigan/Texas (I know those are public universities but they do have great academics along with a solid FB program) and start allowing some exceptions to the admittance standards.

Posted on 12/20 7:13 PM | IP: Logged

Another opinion I have is ND will eventually have to join a conference. Back when the Bowl Alliance was formed and then later the BCS, ND still kinda had some pull. That's where ND as an independent was able to finagle their way into basically a AQ spot. My theory is once the PAC-12, the SEC, the Big 10 plus 2, and the ACC all reach 16 teams those 64 universities are going to put a stranglehold on what is known as the BCS (due to the TV contracts, ect). Once they get their hands around the BCS' neck, they'll push for a playoff.

The NCAA will be in a pickle because their money makers will want an exclusive playoff. They'll have almost no choice but to cave because those 64 universities will have more guaranteed money coming in then the NCAA can afford to lose.

It's close to being kill or be killed in CFB. IMO, ND (or any other university for that matter) won't survive on their own.

Posted on 12/20 7:51 PM | IP: Logged

...then on the flip side, who knows, maybe some programs will say to hell with the conferences and go indy. (just sayin') 3dGrin

Possible. Texas and OK are ND's biggest ally should the Big 12 finally implode. IMO, UT and OK will eventually cave and go to the PAC-12 (along with OKST).

Programs are running scared. Look at WVU. They have tried to get into just about every conference not named the Big East for a couple of years now.

The only thing I can say is if Missouri and TAMU to the SEC and Pitt and SU to the ACC didn't light the fuse, I don't know what will. Add Nebraska to the Big 10 plus 2 and Colorado and Utah to the PAC-12 and "All signs point to yes".

Just a few short years ago, ND was the only millionaire in the room. They're fixin' to be the only millionaire at a table of billionaires.

Posted on 12/20 9:07 PM | IP: Logged

Really? Think Jack has ND's back, and until push comes to shove, meh, with conference realignment. Don't like the BSC and absolutely loathe the idea of super conferences.

Posted on 12/20 9:13 PM | IP: Logged

It's just the way I see it. I don't neccessarily like it either.

I remember when the ACC was 9 teams and then the excitement of conference expansion. The conference championships led the way to the BCS. 'Super Conferences' will lead the way to a playoff.

Like it or not, ND is going to have to conform or they're going to get left holding the bag....and that bag will be full of poo.

I don't know how y'all do things up there but please don't think this will fly when you arrive in sunny Florida.

Actually the ice rink looks as empty as a Footlocker store in Tallahassee.

I don't think ND needs to revise their recruiting approach. What's been holding them back has been coaching. This years team has plenty of talent but made some critical gaffes that cost them a much better record. Also, the QB position needs upgrading. If Gunner Kiel signs, that would be remedied. Currently, ND is ranked about 12th in the recruiting rankings, with some big names still on the board. That's enough talent to compete, if properly coached.

Who knows about the conference alignment. Whe way alignments are now, devoid of any regional integration, is asinine.

Posted on 12/21 12:36 PM | IP: Logged

I heard that when Charlie Weis was the ND coach, he tried to skate like that but he fell through the ice.

More weak sauce from the faux Army fan.

You do realize that obesity is epidemic in the US, most likely you're overweight, or have a family member that is.rolleyes

Alice is "the fat" anything like 'the ghey' and would you consider both to be an epidemic and/or contagious?

Posted on 12/22 1:27 PM | IP: Logged

Haa! I really needed to reword that post, didn't reread and hit "post message" as the doorbell was ringing. Also edited a typo with a typo. Arrgghhh!

I just thought it was funny because most people like myself don't want to catch the ghey and I haven't heard that the fat was also contagious and was an epidemic.

Are you related to Anita Bryant???? (...dang, in fruit talk, she's probably past the point of over-ripe)

Baking cookies, answering the cell/door don't mix well with posting...:)

Nope. I just like to stir the pot.

Anita Bryant is 71 years old ... well within d-ron's target range.

Are we talking about low hanging fruit? You know bottle of whiskey makes those low hanging fruits a bit more palatable. smokin

Posted on 12/22 5:04 PM | IP: Logged

So it whiskey, plus a warm body with a faint pluse???? wink

Posted on 12/22 8:08 PM | IP: Logged

Depending on the body (6.5+) and how faint a pulse, the whiskey could be optional 3dGrin.

So you're a dead fish fan, huh? tongue

Amen. But I have NEVER had sex with (a) a beheaded cadaver, nor (b) Rosie O'Donnell, although of the two, conceivably I'd consider the cadaver after a few single malts, provided rigor mortis was in the incipient stages.

Posted on 12/24 1:28 AM | IP: Logged

So, how about if Rosie was tatted, almost nekkid, slithering over goth lesbians and shooting fire balls????? 3dGrin
So now I know....

Cold fish = uninterested in the actvities

Dead fish = Semi's late night cadaver fantasy

You shouldn't worry about catching the ghey, dimrod. Once you go ghey, you can relax because you'll always have another guy watching your back. Merry Xmas!

Are you speaking from personal experience?

Oh and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.

Ok Domers, it's getting close to game time. Any of you guys and gals getting a little nervous? Personally I want FSU to complete beating the axis of evil in UM, UF, and ND.

Win or lose I will get to enjoy living in beautiful sunny Florida while Domers get stuck with cabin fever from the snow storms. So you can say that even if FSU loses, we still win. cool

Nothing a little Beef-12 injection won't fix wink.

No, I'm not worried and how in hades ND is part of your axis of evil?Think it would be UM, the gators and WF. 3dGrin

Had light fluffy snow this AM, it's melted and suppose to be barbeque weather the rest of the week.

Posted on 12/27 10:17 PM | IP: Logged

Our snow remains melted all year, and our BBQ grilles are always warm.

Should I throw a ribeye on for you?

Posted on 12/28 2:39 PM | IP: Logged

Nor do you have the charm and bright colors of fall, or the brilliance of a new spring. I like the changes of seasons even though I'm not fond of snow.

Grilling and hot tubbing out in the snow is nothing new. 3dGrin

Posted on 12/28 2:59 PM | IP: Logged

That's South Florida.

Here in North Florida, we get a change of seasons. Why just in the past 24 hours we went from a high of 70 to a high of 60 ... and in a few days, Winter will be over.

Posted on 12/28 3:34 PM | IP: Logged

Meh, I'm happy on the banks of the Wabash. If you and your family are ever in my neck of the woods, I'll give you the grand tour of the historical sites. 3dGrin

Will give a glimpe of luxury living at Pearl City...:)

I have to admit I feel a bit embarrassed that FSU has been relegated into kicking Notre Shame back into their hole 3dGrin.

Posted on 12/29 5:21 PM | IP: Logged

This is an awful game to watch. He who makes the least mistakes wins.

Posted on 12/29 6:29 PM | IP: Logged

Yep, it's really ugly.

Posted on 12/29 7:06 PM | IP: Logged

The sooner this game is over the better for all parties involved.

I am much more looking forward to recruiting season than this remainder of this football season. The offensive ineptitude for us the last four games is enough to last me for two seasons.

Posted on 12/29 7:13 PM | IP: Logged

Got a bottle of wine in the icebox, but no cork screw....~sigh~

I've muted the sound, gone to tracker when the Irish are on offense, but I need alcohol if I'm going to make it through the second half.

Posted on 12/29 7:27 PM | IP: Logged

laugh

I might need a heavy sedative for my second half. Great catch by Floyd.

Posted on 12/29 7:32 PM | IP: Logged

I am know trying to get the cork out with a seriated knife...wish me luck.

Figure by the time I ruin the cork...FSU will be leading the game. :(

Or you might cut yourself. Be careful with sharp objects and alcohol. wink.

Posted on 12/29 8:09 PM | IP: Logged

Oh yeah, Irish lose the lead and I'm still trying to uncork this sucker.

Come on Irish!

Now pounding bottom of wine with my boot, googled and that's suppose to help. Knife is in cork, can't budge cork, guess I going to be pounding the bottom of this bottle for awhile.

Horse radish! FSU is going to score again before I get this bottle opened.

Posted on 12/29 8:30 PM | IP: Logged

Note: Do NOT try to pull cork out with tweezers! Tweezers now bent.

Come Irish...keep that drive alive.

Posted on 12/29 8:35 PM | IP: Logged

Alice getting into a bottle of wine more frustrating than this game. roll

Great play by your special teams. If ND wins that will be the play.
