- Athletic director David Murphy of newly approved Division II member - and first Canadian institution to be granted NCAA membership first.



The 2009-10 championship season has officially begun at the Creek and conference has already contributed to international championships in basketball by capturing world titles in men's U-19 basketball and at the World University Games in women's hoop.

Meanwhile, associate commissioner Christine Hoyles was named as the nation's Conference Administrator of the Year.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the very first institution outside of the United States was added as Canadian school, Simon Fraser was formally approved for Division II membership.





Oregon State

In softball, assistant coach Shawna Feldt resigned to take the head coaching position at Lewis and Clark College in Portland.



WSU

In football, senior defensive back Devin Giles and receiver Michael Willis were both dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

In men's hoop, Wazzu sophomores Klay Thompson and DeAngelo Casto contributed to the USA's gold medal at the 2009 FIBA men's U-19 championships where Brock Motum also contributed to Australia's fourth-place finish.

In baseball, associate head coach Travis Jewett was named as an assistant coach at ASU.

In women's golf, Kelli Kamimura was named as the new head coach.



California

In women's golf, junior Joanne Lee won the Northern California Women's Golf Association championship.



Stanford

In football, San Jose State backed out of their 2010 opener with the Cardinal and Stanford replaced them with Sacramento State.

In w-hoops, the Cardinal received a verbal commitment from 5-11 guard Sara James.



UCLA

In women's rowing, Justin Price was named as assistant coach.



Oregon

In football, defensive end Dominic Glover and long snapper Zach Taylor were declared academically ineligible while kicker Daniel Padilla was granted a release from his scholarship.



Arizona

In football, the Wildcats received a verbal commitment from receiver J.J. Whittaker.

In women's hoop, the Wildcats received a verbal commitment from point guard Candice Warthen.



Arizona State

In football, former Oregon receiver Aaron Pflugrad has joined the Sun Devils.



Washington

In football, running backs David Freeman and Brandon Johnson were determined to be academically ineligible.



USC

In men's tennis, George Husack was named as associate head coach.
