A basketball game is 40 minutes long and on Tuesday evening every second counted in the ACC contest between Boston College and Florida State.

Boston College's Sean Marshall hit a game-winning 3-pointer over two Florida State defenders as the buzzer sounded leading Boston College to a furious comeback that earned them an 85-82 victory over Florida State.

Marshall originally had a chance to give the Eagles a three-point lead with 17.1 seconds left when he was went to the free throw line. He failed to extend the lead by to more than two as he made only the second free throw.

Florida State then answered on the other end of the court when point guard Toney Douglas was fouled on a shot in the lane. He went to the line and successfully drained both free throws to tie the game with 9.7 seconds to play.

After the free throws Boston College struggled to get the ball across midcourt due to pressure from the Florida State defense and had to call a timeout with 5.1 seconds remaining.

After the timeout, Marshall took the inbounds pass, dribbled over the left side of the court and forced a shot with two defenders in his face. The defense made no difference as the ball swished through the net as the buzzer sounded.

Boston College celebrated with their students, Florida State prepared to return home after another heartbreaking road loss.

Boston College improved to 14-5, 6-1 in the ACC behind Marshall's 22 points and 10 rebounds and 28-of-53 (.528) shooting from the floor.

Al Thornton's 22 points and eight rebounds combined with four other 'Noles in double-digits didn't prove to be enough for Florida State who fell to 14-6, 2-4 in the ACC on the season.

The other 'Noles who scored in double-digits included Jason Rich with 15 points, Isaiah Swann with 13 points, and 10 points for Uche Echefu and Toney Douglas each. Florida State was 29-of-60 (.483) from the floor on the evening and an impressive 16-of-17 (.941) from the free throw line.

On the season, Florida State fell to 2-5 on the road, and 0-3 in conference road games.

Florida State will return to the court at home on Saturday when they host Wake Forest at 4:00 P.M
