January 16, 2012Wyoming is a great place to live and after a superb 8-4 season the Cowboys are proving it is a great place to go to school and play football as well.
Last season the Cowboys roped in super-star QB Brett Smith of West Salem who went on to tear it up as a true frosh QB and was named first team All American. Hungry for more the Cowboys, led by Coach Pete Kaligus, have come back looking to double or triple up on NW talent.
Trent Sewell, the State's premier big WR, committed to Wyoming a little while back.
Over the long weekend season they gained the services of three more of the best of the best in Washington. Visiting there this weekend were Uso Olive of Federal Way and his team mate DJ May. Uso is the 300 pound mauler DT and DJ the 4.4 laser RB and DB.
Joining the Eagle Duo was Jayshawn Jordan of O'Dea High School. He is a premier lock down corner we have covered many times.
Without going into too many details the trio all returned home and have all let WashingtonPreps.com know that they have committed to Wyoming.
"It was amazing. There we were checking it out and it was just beautiful. The Coaches and team and the facility. There was no reason to say no," said DJ who said the highlight of the trip had to be some snow mobile rides where he and the guys revved it up into the 70 MPH Range and blasted through the snow like shredding an opposing team.
May continued, "To be there with Uso and have the experience together is going to be incredible. We are very close and this is only going to make college all the better. Jayshawn coming with us only makes it better yet."
Olive likes the schedule!
"We open against Texas," he said. "Let's get ready!"
Jordan has not been reached for comment yet but these three comprise much of the list of the best of best available. All had other offers from the Big Sky and other D-1 schools but chose Wyoming. This talent will surely make an impact there.
And if they help the Cowboys 1/2 as much as Brett has, which we believe they will, then things are looking really great for the program and for our NW kids too who need schools that want their services.
Congrats to all three of these amazing kids!
