Huntsville DL visiting UA, awaits offer
The recruiting pace has picked up for the Alabama coaching staff as they work to fill the remaining few slots for their 2008 signing class. One late target for the Tide is J.O. Johnson's Jomarcus Savage from Huntsville who holds written offers from Auburn, Tennessee and Southern Miss and a verbal offer from South Carolina.
Last week, a Tide assistant was on hand to see Savage and his teammates rout Athens 33-0. Savage picked up two sacks and six tackles in the contest.
"Coach (Curt) Cignetti watched the game and got some more film on me," said Savage, who has 44 tackles and six sacks on the season. "He told my coach that if Coach Saban liked what he saw this weekend, they would offer me.
"I am definitely interested in Alabama. I am interested in anyone that is interested in me. They want me to come watch the LSU game this weekend, and I will be there to check things out."
Savage has been a disruptive force throughout his high school career, but according to Johnson coach Harold Wells, Savage has found success tougher in 2007.
"He has really stepped up his big plays in recent games, but teams have not only double-teamed him all year but they are running away from him too," said Wells, whose squad reached the Class 5A semifinals last season. "He is starting to break through and make plays."
