Latest on Grochowski
From the start of the recruiting process, the Army Black Knights have made it crystal clear to Daniel Grochowski that he is a recruiting priority for their program.
With field specialist Alex Carlton heading into his senior and Matt Campbell, who handled kickoffs graduating, the staff was surely looking to add talent at that position.
Should Grochowski say yes to Army, he has a very good chance to take over where Campbell left off (kickoffs) and could even press/push Alex Carlton
he's that good.
Coming into this weekend's official visit to Army, the 6-foot-3, 210 pound kicker had high expectation and he knew that the experience would not be like any other college type visit he may have.
"Coming on the trip there, I had high expectations and they fulfilled all of those expectations," shared Grochowski.
"Basically for me it's Army and Florida
and Army is making it tough. And if you don't attend West Point, you are giving up a lot. Depending what happens at Florida could change my mind
I'm not saying I'm going to commit yet (to Army) but it's a strong possibility."
Grochowski will be taking an unofficial visit this upcoming week to Florida.
So with Army and the Florida Gators as his two finalists, Grochowski was able to share with GoBlackKnights.com his post-West Point visit thoughts, along with what is unfolding with the Gators.
"My visit to Army went really good," he shared. "I experienced a lot and they showed me a lot."
The prospect out of Sarasota (Fl.) Riverview High School found a familiar face on campus, although it did not come as a surprise.
"C.J. Shelly was my player host and it was good time," states Grochowski, of the Army sophomore who were teammates, albeit a two year difference and one year together as teammates. "He's a buddy mine
we played football back in high school. "I specifically asked for C.J. as my player host."
Along with spending time with Shelley, he also had some down time with various members of the coaching staff.
"I had a chance to speak to all the coaches, but Coach Holmes the most because he is recruiting me. Also chatted with the special teams' Coach Joe Ross and on Sunday I spoke with Coach Ellerson."
So what is Grochowski's status relative making a college decision?
"When it comes to Florida, it is close to home and many people in my family are Gators," he says. "But the thing that I really like about Army is life after college. You can't beat graduating from West Point."
As always, GoBlackKnights.com will keep you right in the middle and up to date on Grochowski recruiting and final decision.
