Temple's offer list numbers six
While defensive lineman Cody Temple has scholarship offers from six schools, it was a school who has not yet offered that hosted the big man from Bakersfield (Calif.) on an unofficial visit this week. Temple said he spent two days in Seattle this week to check out Washington.
"The weather was good," Temple said. "Everyone is saying it is always raining in Washington, but it was 70 degrees the first day, 65 the second. The school was real nice and they have a good program. The coaches are real good people. It was just a good place."
Temple is an All-State defensive lineman with big numbers on the bench press (415) as well as the classroom (3.0 GPA). The All-Area selection from Liberty High School holds scholarship offers from Colorado State, Washington State, New Mexico State, Fresno State, Nevada and San Jose State. He said he is likely to wait until a time closer to Signing Day before he makes a decision, but has already visited Fresno State and Nevada.
"They (Fresno) are a local school. It is easy to get there and see what it is. We had the first kid from our school to get a DI football scholarship go there, so I got to see him on my visit. Nevada - it was really nice up there. It is open, there are clear skies It is not dirty or messy there. It was clean. It was just really nice."
Temple said Larry Lewis has been recruiting him on behalf of the Colorado State Rams.
"We are trying to get up there on an unofficial visit," Temple said. "We want to get up there and check out the school... Everyone tells me it is real pretty up there, it is a good place to be and has real good academics."
Right now, Temple said all of the schools vying for his services are in the same boat. He said he is looking for a school which will give him the tools academically to make a good living after college and said he has a lot to offer a football program.
"I think I work hard," he said. "I am the first to get there, the last to leave. I always want to get extra reps in."
