IrishIllustrated.com There aren’t many prep athletes across the country quite like Jonathan Baldwin from Aliquippa, Pa. The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder, who is rated by Rivals as the No. 2 tight end and No. 4 prospect in Pennsylvania, considers himself to be a wide receiver. In fact, he says that he has turned his back on any school that is recruiting him as a tight end. So most schools, Notre Dame included, are pursuing Baldwin as a wide receiver. When he was clocked at a slightly exaggerated but telling 4.31 and 4.33 at a Pittsburgh summer camp, most tight end talk was put on hold. • A natural blocker—When you see Baldwin’s long, graceful, fluid strides, it’s easy to understand why he doesn’t want to be considered a tight end prospect. He brings a little too much finesse and flash to the gridiron to spend his collegiate career blocking defensive ends and outside linebackers.
