All I could get out of him was a smirk and an "I'm sure as heck not going to tell you" look.

Don't play poker with Charlie Weis. You will lose.

As I walked toward the left field fence at Marian High School in Mishawaka, Ind., I wanted to see what kind of reaction I could get out of Weis, who sat in his easy chair next to his right-hand man, Nick Mainieri, while taking in the action on our baseball field.

"So you're telling me Ethan Johnson and Jamoris Slaughter have committed to Notre Dame?" I said to the person on the other end of my cell phone, loud enough so Weis could hear me.

That's when I got the smirk from Weis.
