Collison talks tourney and health

As senior point guard, Darren Collison goes, so it seems does the team. The Bruins were out of sync when they last played against USC last Friday. One of the reasons the team looked disjointed was their talented point guard was dealing with a bruised and painful tailbone. Collison met with the media on Sunday to discuss his injury the coming tournament.

Will traveling across country be a disadvantage?

Collison: "For me personally, not in my case, because next year on the next level you are going to be traveling a lot and you are going to be playing tough games. I guess it is good to prepare for me now and I don't think my teammates care for the simple fact that we understand every game from here on out is important to us and wherever we play here or in Japan, we are going to play in Detroit. That's where we're going to end up at. We just have to take it one game at a time. We can't overlook anything and just take care of business from there."

This is a team that you guys have talked about where you have to be at your best to win and there have been nights where you haven't been at your full intensity. Do you feel you can turn it on and off and turn it on now that you're in the tournament?

Collison: "Well I thought we were pulling away a little bit at the end of the season. Just that last game in the Pac 10 tournament against USC and I wasn't nearly 100 percent as I could of have been and that's going to be a key factor for myself.

"As soon I get healthy these next couple of days, I'll be ready to play on Thursday, but it will be nothing like how I felt when we were playing USC."
