Gray wants to visit BC

The Boston College coaching staff is trying to load up at the defensive end position in the Class of 2009. The Eagles already have a commitment from Kasim Edebali and they are looking to find more help. Is Victor Gray one of the pieces to the puzzle?

Gray, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound end from Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips, has largely flown under the radar thus far in the recruiting process.

Some coaches have taken notice, however, and he recently said he is up to about 13 scholarship offers. Right now he has narrowed his focus to five schools.

"I've been to Colorado State and Ole Miss, and I'm going to UCF on January 9," Gray said. "I'm looking at Boston College and Kansas State, too. It's pretty much just those five right now. I haven't set up any visits besides that.

"I'm probably going to wait until closer to Signing Day. It's pretty even. Obviously, people might think the ones I've visited are ahead but I'd say they're all pretty even."

How would he compare his trips to CSU and Ole Miss? Was one visit better than the other?

"I went to Ole Miss maybe two or three weeks ago and it went good. They had pretty good facilities. It's a smaller town than I'm used to but it's still nice.

"As far as Colorado State goes, I'm not really looking at it like the Mountain West against the SEC. Just as an overall visit, I was impressed with their staff and team, but I was more impressed with the Ole Miss coaches and players."

Boston College has been working hard to set up a date for Gray to take a visit.

"I haven't been able to set up a date with BC just yet but I want to," he said. "They wanted me to come in January 16, I think, but I've been talking to my mom about it. I think we have some family stuff coming up. I think it will have to be pushed back if they can do it later in the month.

"I talked to coach (Jeff) Comissiong not long ago. He hasn't come by for a visit. There was a period of time when we were talking, and then a dead period where we didn't really talk but it wasn't officially the dead period. We've sort of picked it up again recently. I'd definitely like to get out there."
