As a result of off-season personnel changes and early game suspensions, Florida State will have to depend on rookies and inexperienced players at several positions early on this season.
While most people have focused on the lack of experience on the offensive and defensive lines, the position that may be hit the hardest early on is special teams.
With Graham Gano's recent knee injury, FSU's entire place-kicking and punt teams will be made up of all rookies. Despite being Florida State's head football coach for the past 33 seasons, Bobby Bowden said can't remember the last time his team had to break in all new players at every key position on special teams. As a result, Bowden expects the newcomers to be a little green out of the gates and make some early mistakes.
