Duke targets west coast prospect

It's getting down to crunch time in football recruiting, and the Duke Blue Devils may be close to improving their stance with another one of their targets. With special teams being a concern for Duke, the coaching staff is looking to improve its group in every facet possible. This is where, Jeff Palmer of Santa Margarita (Calif.) High School, comes in to play.

Though it may sound a little strange, Ted Roof and his staff invited Palmer, primarily a long snapper, to Duke last weekend to take in (unofficially) the Blue Devils last home game against Georgia Tech. Palmer then checked his schedule and decided to fly out.

"Duke had been recruiting me since January, but I actually got a letter last Monday and they invited me out and because my high school played on Thursday we were free the rest of the week so we said why not," Palmer said. "We flew in late Friday night and went to the campus early Saturday morning and had lunch with the other recruits."
