Black day in Blacksburg
It's down to one.
After falling to No. 10 Virginia Tech this afternoon, 44-14, The Hurricanes must win at Boston College next Saturday to qualify for a bowl berth.
If Miami can't win that game the team will finish with a 5-7 record, which would be the worst since Lou Saban's 1977 team went 3-8.
UM must regroup after losing consecutive games to the Hokies, Virginia and NC State.
"We just want to get bowl eligible, that's the main thing," linebacker Tavares Gooden said after the game. "We have not been in this situation since 1997. I don't think everyone wants it. That's what it boils down to. We have to make plays in the second half and we easily win this game.
"We can't be the class that doesn't go to a bowl game."
