Practice Notebook: UConn on the horizon
Bobby Deren
ScarletNation.com Rutgers will head up to Connecticut this Saturday to play only their second road game of the season. The 16th ranked Huskies are red hot after their upset victory over South Florida. The Scarlet Knights will get back to basics as the team prepares to rebound from a tough loss to West Virginia. Here's a look at how the week kicked off.
Still looking to bowl
After West Virginia dealt Rutgers their second conference loss, the Scarlet Knights now have a very slim chance at a Big East title. However, there is still a competitive race in the Big East for a chance to play in some reputable bowl games.
"There's a ton out there for us to achieve," said head coach Greg Schiano. "This isn't a place that's had a perennial bowl team that goes to major bowls every year. This is still new stuff to us. We're still working our tails off to become one of those teams again this year. The more years you stack on top of each other, the better off you become. We have plenty to go out there and achieve and I think our guys know that."
Good to be home
UConn will conclude a three game homestand when they host Rutgers this Saturday night. The Huskies are coming off back-to-back home wins against Louisville and South Florida. Connecticut is 5-0 at home on the season and boasts an impressive 23-8 record since it began playing at Rentschler Field in 2003.
