Top OL prospect takes in Red River Rivalry
Everyone knows that Saturday's game between Texas and Oklahoma was played at a neutral field, the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. What some fans forget is that the home team in the series, this year the Texas Longhorns, can invite recruits to attend the game.
This year, the Longhorns hosted a small group of prospects, including one of the top players in the class of 2009 in Cedar Hill offensive tackle Thomas Ashcraft.
Since the game is not played on their campus, the Texas coaches cannot have any interaction with the prospects that attend, but Ashcraft said he simply enjoyed being able to watch the heated rivalry in person.
The 6-foot-5, 280-pound blue-chip is already holding offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Baylor, and he said he remains wide open at this early stage.
