Arizona's eighth 2008 commitment is in, as the Wildcats have landed 6-foot-1, 254-pound Scottsdale Saguaro defensive tackle Chris Merrill.

The in-state star just completed an unofficial visit to the UA and when he was finished, he told the Arizona coaches that he was going to be a Wildcat.

"We got done with the tour and everything and I've really been thinking about it a lot," Merrill said. "It's a great match, it's close to home and my parents are going to be able to come down and support me."

Merrill picked up an offer from Arizona after a very impressive showing at the UA's Elite Camp. He also had an offer from Portland State.
