Sophomores star at USC
Phoenix (Ariz.) Desert Vista defensive end Devon Kennard was the second 2009 prospect to shine at this weekend's USC Football Camps.
Saturday, Carson sophomore tight end Morrell Presley impressed Pete Carroll enough to earn a scholarship. Presley promptly committed, while Kennard battled twin towers Matt Kalil and Matt Meyer for trench supremacy.
Devon Kennard is the son of Dallas Cowboy and Arizona Cardinal offensive linemen Derrick Kennard, but while senior made a career of protecting the pass, junior will make a career at rushing the passer. At 6-foot-3, 230-pounds, Devon showed explosive speed off the edge as a defensive end Sunday.
