Ready to take aim

Orangebloods.com Russell Shepard is already regarded as one of the country's top quarterback prospects for the class of 2009, but the Houston (TX) Cypress Ridge standout knows there's still a lot of work to be done.
In fact, Shepard, a potential five-star prospect for next year's group, is so determined to make the necessary strides as a football player that he recently made the decision to forego the remainder of his track season (including an appearance at regionals this weekend) so he would not miss any time in his team's spring football season, which began on Monday.
The 6-foot-2, 183-pound speedster continues to list schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, Texas Tech and Florida State as programs that have caught his early attention.
