Three Wildcats to play close to home
When Arizona was shipped to Philadelphia in last year's NCAA tournament, it ended up being a blessing in disguise. While the Wildcats lost in the second round to top-seeded Villanova, UA point guard Mustafa Shakur was outstanding playing in his hometown, averaging 19.0 points and 7.0 assists in the two games.
Shakur didn't do enough to lift Arizona to a victory over Villanova, but playing in front of his family and friends was seemingly enough to make him a different player, if only for a weekend.
The 2006-07 season hasn't worked out the way that Jawann McClellan, Fendi Onobun and Nic Wise probably would have liked, but all three players got some good news when it was revealed that Arizona's NCAA tournament location would be New Orleans, Louisiana.
