Sutton: It was an old fashion butt-kicking

The Jayhawks just needed a 25-8 run in the first half and this game was in the bag. National TV audience, Top 10 match-up, and this game had the makings of a Big 12 classic. All you have to do was listen to Sean Sutton after the game to realize it was far from that.

"That was an old fashioned butt kicking," Sutton said. "Our guys just didn't compete. This has always been a great rivalry and a game that the players always look forward to playing in and the fans always enjoy to watch and I felt like we set the series back tonight. We just didn't rise up and compete like we did the first 16 games of the season. I will take the blame for that. I just didn't have them prepared well enough for the environment."

The Jayhawks had seven players score at least seven points. They set the season steal mark with 17. Sutton also felt the Jayhawks had a big advantage in the transition game.
