Over the weekend, Boilermaker football coach Joe Tiller alluded to being "close" to being done recruiting for 2007, weeks before Christmas has even arrived. Still, Tiller and Co. have at least a couple more scholarships to dole out; exactly how many is unknown, as it's likely a moving target. Below, GoldandBlack.com takes a position-by-position look at where the Boilermakers stand heading into the stretch run of the recruiting season. Today, the defense; click here for Tuesday's offensive rundown. Defensive Line Of Purdue's needs the rest of the way, defensive end may top the list, if not share the perch with the offensive line. Next season, Purdue will have at least three senior defensive ends on the roster, four if indefinitely suspended Eugene Bright returns, which is very much in question. The younger ranks are fairly depleted, with sophomore-to-be Keyon Brown being Purdue's only underclassmen at this time. Needless to say, Tiller and Co. have looked to reload a position that's grown a little skinny. Purdue technically has three defensive end commitments, though Ryan Kerrigan and Nick Mondek are the sorts of jumbo physical specimens that could conceivably outgrow the position with normal weight-room progress.
Both players are much more the ultra-physical sort of ends than the fast, speed-rushing type Purdue's so often had.
