OStateIllustrated.com STILLWATER - Welcome to campus, Obi Muonelo.
The freshman from Edmond Santa Fe started out his Oklahoma State career with a bang. Several bangs, in fact. Long-range ones. Those baskets helped the Cowboys cruise to a 95-50 victory over Florida Atlantic in front of 11,425 fans on Friday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena in what was the official head coaching debut of Sean Sutton.
Muonelo helped the Pokes race out to an early 21-9 lead when he made two three-pointers in under two minutes. He added another two long-range shots to go perfect from behind the arc in the first half and head into the locker room leading all scorers with 14 points. He ended the game with 16 points.
It was a big debut for Muonelo, who came off the bench to provide a nice spark for the Pokes. His point total was the most for a freshman in his debut since Corey Williams scored 17 against Pittsburgh in 1988.
"The way I played tonight is the kind of ball I expect from myself," Muonelo said.
