Playing catch up with Hart
Wake Forest joined the Greg Hart sweepstakes Wednesday, April 4, but is competing with the likes of Nebraska, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Virginia and more.
"I'm trying to narrow everything down," Hart said. "You never know what happens in the spring. Coaches are always coming in. You never know who's going to offer, or what new interest you get."
He hopes to commit to a school in July.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Dayton (OH) Bishop tight end said Nebraska has made him a priority, and that he really likes the Big Ten.
Hart is impressed with the strong academic reputation of Northwestern.
"I like [head] coach [Pat] Fitzgerald a lot," Hart said. "I like how I'm going to play H-Back there. I like how versatile that position is."
He has developed strong relationships with Pittsburgh head coach Paul Chryst and assistant coach Joe Rudolph over the last year.
"I'm really comfortable with those guys," Hart said. "I really believe in what they're doing, and I think they can make that program into something great."
Hart also likes the direction Virginia's football program is head, and is impressed with the academics at the university in Charlottesville.
Wake is working its way into the mix with defensive coordinator Brian Knorr leading the way. He recently visited Hart at school.
"We talked a little bit," Hart said. "I talk to him on Facebook every once in a while. He's a great guy. I have a lot of respect for the [Wake Forest] coaching staff."
