Thomas Rawls' wild ride about to end
The recruitment of Flint (Mich.) Northern running back Thomas Rawls will likely be looked back upon as one of the most unique in recent memory. The 5-10, 215-pound ball carrier who put up big numbers, and graced outstanding highlight reels never generated attention outside the Midwest.
In fact, even within the Midwest Rawls attracted only slight interest from BCS Conference schools. Maybe the fact that his high school coach is the son of Michigan's running backs coach gave other staffs the impression they could not get the kid. His academic situation - while not terrible - is borderline enough that it did not help his case, but he is fully aware of where he stands and is confident of the outcome.
