Wood considering several official visits
Kameron Wood has seen Ole Miss struggle on the football field this season.
At 4-6 the Rebels are in danger of not making a bowl trip for the first time since 2007, but Wood isn't worried about his decision to commit to Ole Miss.
The Birmingham (John Carroll), Ala., defensive end chose UM over fellow finalist Mississippi State on August 13, and since then, he's stayed firm with his choice.
"I still feel really good about Ole Miss," Wood said. "It's just one season, and they have had to plug in some younger guys for the older guys. You can't judge a book by its cover."
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound three-star prospect also holds offers from two other SEC schools in Arkansas and Vanderbilt. Since the recruiting process is a one-time thing, Wood wants to visit some schools and experience a few official visits.
He's planning to check out Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State prior to National Signing Day.
"Those are the two besides Ole Miss I'm interested in visiting to see things," Wood said. "Southern Miss is talking to me some as well, but I don't know about doing that."
Wood thinks Ole Miss' down year is an anomaly, and the Rebels are also telling him he can get on the field quickly. Wood is currently playing basketball, but as soon as it's over, his emphasis will be on strength training.
"When basketball is over, I'm hitting the weight room," Wood said. "There's an opportunity at defensive end, so I know if I work hard I can get some snaps."
Wood has been clocked with a 4.5 40-yard dash time.
